We are proud to announce the successful installation of an Optical Fiber-Based Pipeline Intrusion
Detection System at a reputed facility in the North-East region of India.
This advanced solution has been implemented to monitor third-party intrusions along an 82 km stretch
of the Pipeline Right-of-Way (PL ROW) — covering approximately 82 km of optical distance. The primary
objective of this project is to provide real-time protection against activities such as manual digging and
mechanical excavation, which pose significant risks to underground pipeline infrastructure.
About PIDS Technology
PIDS is an intelligent fiber optic sensing system designed to provide continuous, real-time monitoring of
buried pipelines. The system is based on Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology, where the
optical fiber itself functions as a highly sensitive, continuous sensor.
When any physical disturbance, such as digging or vehicular movement, occurs near the buried pipeline,
OIL-PIDS detects the vibration patterns instantly. Its advanced analytics classify the type of activity and
accurately locate the event along the monitored stretch. This allows for immediate alerts and rapid
response, minimizing the risk of damage or disruption.
